Of Sweet Potato and Pumpkin Pies ( and Bourbon Balls!)

So, Fall finally “fell” in Arkansas! Time to start planning for Thanksgiving, a mere three (3!) weeks away. For me it means the purchase of a new piece of equipment: a food processor. I’ve borrowed one in the past and learned firsthand the wonders of this machine. The better to make Bourbon Balls and pie crusts, my dears!

The model I chose is the Black & Decker FP1600B 8-Cup Food Processor and I think it will do just fine. I have heard from my baker friend, Rus (who also happens to be the maker of the best biscotti ever) and he swears by it so that is endorsement enough for me! It will also be a huge help with pie crusts.

Speaking of pies, here is what Katie Connally Confections will have for Thanksgiving:

Pumpkin Pie - $15.00

Sweet Potato Pie - $15.00

Pecan Pie - $20.00

Bourbon Balls - $12.50 per pound

This is the South, so I'm pretty sure everybody already knows what Bourbon Balls are, but just in case..."a Bourbon Ball is a bite-size confection that incorporates bourbon." A very simple explanation for very delicious treat! Most Bourbon Balls are just rolled in confectioner's sugar, but not mine. I decided to "up the game", so be ready!

By the way, I will have samples of them at this Saturday's Hillcrest Farmers Market (for grownups only!), 2200 Kavanaugh Blvd., right in front of the Pulaski Heights Baptist Church. :)

I will need your orders no later than 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 21st, one week before Turkey Day. Don't be left out! You can reach me via: facebook.com/katieconnallyconfections, or khrynna@yahoo.com, or 501-773-2762 between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.

Wishing a happy Autumn to us all,

Katie Connally's grandaughter
